Astral Influences for the Holidays
By Howard Beckman
Well, here we are just under a few weeks to the winter solstice and a bare few weeks until Christmas. I doubt anyone will argue the fact that it’s been a very intense year. Not only the failing economies worldwide causing anxiety for people, but wars causing massive displacement of populaces, unbelievable storms, earthquakes and floods.
So are we to expect more of the same for the end of this year and the beginning of 2014? At least for the moment I believe we have reason to be hopeful! As I write this Sun remains in Scorpio, along with Mercury, but in a matter of days Sun will move into sidereal Sagittarius, where he will be posited in the holy sign of Jupiter, as well as receiving his benefic aspect beaming from his current position in the sign of Gemini.
This signals a wonderful time for truly seeing the spiritual importance of this month’s holidays, as well as a time for enjoying the company of friends and family. Rather than feeling committed to buy costly presents, that nobody really needs, why not give your time and your heart? Spend your most valuable asset of “time” on those who you love and care for. There can be no greater gift, for it truly comes from your heart.
Venus will spend the month of December in Capricorn, which creates a “yoga” called Parivarthana Yoga in Sanskrit. Western astrologers call this mutual reception, when two planets occupy each other’s signs. With Venus in Saturn’s sign of Capricorn and Saturn in Venus’ sign of Libra, it becomes a good time to seek new horizons in your career. It is also a good time for relationships, either the start of new ones or the rekindling of love and affection between partners and lovers.
Venus will go retrograde, moving backwards into Sagittarius on January 7th, where he will remain until almost the end of February. In the retrograde movement Venus will have conjunctions with Sun, Mercury and the Moon. For all this time Venus spends in Sagittarius we will have the mutual aspect between the two greatest of benefics, Jupiter and Venus. This will further the opportunity for each one of us to seek love and truth in our lives. Can there be any greater goals than these? Seek and ye shall find, as the saying goes! I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a New Year filled with hope and joy. Namaste!
