Monthly Tarotscope Forecast
There’s plenty of activity in the heavens this month (as above, so below) to provide quite a mixed picture for us to contend with.
Mercury Retrograde 4 – 26 October.
Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse in Aries – 8 October.
New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse in Scorpio – 23 October.
Eclipses are something of a wild card and often act as a catalyst for change, heralding beginnings and endings that can sometimes impact our lives for many years to come. Important information often bubbles up to the surface and there’s usually a ring of truth to it, so pay attention to what comes to light.
The easiest way to work with eclipses is not to fight against them, if something comes to an end then it’s usually final, so draw a line in the sand and move on because you can bet your bottom dollar there’s a wonderful new beginning up ahead. It can be quite a mixed picture and you may not recognise the benefits right away but there are wonderful opportunities to be found around this time of powerful influences.
The world stage and weather patterns will probably hit headlines, as they’re apt to do, but stay focussed on what’s happening around you and don’t get too distracted. Amazing life-changing occurrences can happen around eclipses, people meet life partners, start completely new careers or businesses, finally quit a bad situation, move home or start a family… you get the picture, it’s the big stuff. So don’t resist, if you look back you’ll find many of your best moments were initiated around an eclipse – it’s all good!
Meanwhile Mercury, planet of communication, will be back-pedaling in trickster mode, easily creating snafus and snarl-up into an already emotionally charged atmosphere of the eclipses…. Watch your words this month and double-check everything. Try to avoid: signing new contracts, buying mechanical, electrical, or technical equipment, or luxury items, as they often develop faults. Back-up computers and anticipate changes or travel delays. Alternatively, it’s a good time for revision, wrapping up projects, and old faces often reappear, along with items considered lost or previously misplaced.
Overall, we’re set for an interesting month, finishing off with Halloween on the 31st!

Have a great month!
Key card: Six of Pentacles
Love: Four of Swords
Career: Nine of Cups
Personal Relationships: The Six of Pentacles highlights the benefits of gifts and sharing on many levels. Whilst others may be generous to you now, in either personal or a material sense, the true joy may be found in mutual benefit. The art of give and take is sometimes a subtle balancing act and not all gifts come along with a price tag, the generosity of someone’s spirit may warm your heart, yet equally it’s said that the gift is in the giving.
Finances could improve this month but it may also be time to consolidate resources to improve and re-gather your position while you can. Take a sensible approach to strengthen your coffers and pull back from the temptation to go mad when the extra flies in, at least squirrel a little away to fall back on later should you need to.
A time out may be required in one particular liaison and if you’ve been through the emotional wringer then take some time to recharge your batteries. Emotionally, it’s a brief pause not a full stop, so allow yourself to catch your breath and recover because all your personal relationships will be important this month. Pause and reflect and remember that all relationships should be a healthy dose of give and take in equal measure. Important alliances will reflect and emphasise this point in October.
Career & Business: The theme from the key card continues into your working life and nicely teams up with the Nine of Cups, the wish card.
If you’re employed it could be that you’re in line for a pay increase, or perhaps your superior/company provide a welcome material benefit. Not everything may materialise immediately but set you on the road to take advantage of the rewards later. Either way, there’s an air of generosity surrounding events. If you’re self-employed consider ways you can work with others to mutual benefit, referrals and new contacts may be sent in your direction.
The wish card is only limited by your imagination and its presence alerts you to get busy with your dreams and goals. Coupled with the Six of Pentacles it holds the potential for material satisfaction and emotional happiness. There’s a useful quote here, “Success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting what you get.” (W.P. Kinsella) this month provides the opportunity!
Key card: Three of Cups
Love: Ace of Cups
Career: Eight of Cups
Personal Relationships: With Cups across the board it’s an emotional month; two different approaches but both with a happy conclusion.
The Three and Ace of Cups indicates weddings, engagements, or possibly births and christenings. The Three shows reasons to celebrate and the Ace provides the reason! Some may be setting the date, tying the knot, or otherwise you’re personally involved and impacted with someone else’s happiness this month.
For those who are single the Ace brings the potential of a new relationship, so ensure you mingle as social occasions are strongly highlighted. For those more settled, the Ace of Cups suggests the start of something new that brings happiness for all concerned. Home and family creates an abundance of warmth and happiness and a new phase is in the offing. It may not all be champagne and dancing shoes but there’s a warm rosy glow of satisfaction with something new this month.
Career & Business: Ordinarily, the Eight of Cups has a slight air of melancholy around it but the Three of Cups takes precedence as the key card, and both cards are minors so it changes the tone somewhat.
For whatever reason, the Eight of Cups suggests that you’re abandoning a path and it may be something you feel you’ve invested a good deal of yourself into, or initially held high hopes for. It may be that something is not all you thought it would be and this is the moment the penny drops. However, the Three of Cups is the card of celebrations so don’t forget we’re in eclipse season, even if it may not be immediately evident there will be a silver lining in due course.
For some, the Three may bring something better first that in turn leads to leaving an existing situation. There may be some sadness in leaving the past behind but in this instance it doesn’t overshadow the sense of happiness found in the key card. Onwards and upwards…
Key card: Knight of Wands
Love: Three of Pentacles
Career: Six of Wands
Overall: Work nudges into your personal zone this month as both areas reflect career matters. It’s looking good and this may be why it shifts the balance into your personal area as you capitalise upon it. Due to the way these cards have fallen I’m reading them as a collective group, rather than separating the personal and work areas, as they all spill into each other and so reflect how they translate for you this month.
The Three of Pentacles shows work that you’re good at and enjoy, so much so you may not even consider it ‘work’ but more of a passion. Interestingly, there’s also a combined message found between this and the Six of Wands (situated in your work area). The Three of Pentacles not only shows work you have a particular talent for but also that others recognize, whilst the Six of Wands indicates other people applauding your efforts. The Six of Wands may also be the bearer of great news, so there could be rewards and recognition for something work wise or career orientated this month.
Whether formal or informal, others are singing your praises and you may be in line for a promotion or an award of some kind. The Knight of Wands can indicate travel will somehow be connected, say perhaps you need to go and collect an award, travel for an interview, or work that involves more travelling, you may be asked to speak or present to others on your particular area of expertise.
I’ve often found that when the Knight of Wands presents itself connected to career it can involve changing the location where you work, even if that’s just a new office, although it’s often been unexpected.
If none of this seems to be ringing any bells for you at the moment then do make the most of these wonderful influences at play in October. You can make great strides in your career or turn a passion and special gift into something more substantial. Your personal life may take second place this month but these types of aspects don’t come along too often, so your nearest and dearest won’t mind in the least.
Key card: Ten of Cups
Love: XIX The Sun
Career: VIII Strength
Personal Relationships: Cancer seems to have drawn the winning hand in the love stakes! The Ten of Cups and The Sun, does it get much better than this? Not really. So where to begin…
Firstly, contented love and marriage come along with the Ten of Cups and with the additional blessing of The Sun, no less, everything looks slightly better than hunky dory, so some Cancerians may be organising nuptials or settling down in a cloud of romantic bliss.
If you’re single make sure you’re out there in the thick of it, so to speak, so love can find you, as rarely will you find better aspects than this. Since we’re moving from zero to the Ten of Cups with no build up to it, that’s pretty much the way you should expect a relationship to develop, perhaps the love at first sight variety, the instant click, but it has the potential to go the distance.
If you’re already settled, home is always close to Cancer’s heart but more so than usual for you this month. Happiness finds you surrounded by those you love, whilst the expansive influence of The Sun provides the icing on the cake, bringing success and warm blessings into the home.
Career & Business: The Ten of Cups may be your key card, and throws the theme around your nearest and dearest, but Strength occupies your career area and holds a bit more sway, as a major card.
In some ways it could feel like something of an endurance test but keep your head down and just keep going, don’t be distracted or tempted to act (or react) on situations that may develop around you. The Strength card is significant for anything dealing with the ‘long haul,’ so it’s not really the time for impulsive action, bold moves, or knee-jerk reactions. We’re in eclipse season so you may see or feel events ricochet around you but batten down the hatches.
Keep your calm and use diplomacy when dealing with others and take your time if major decisions should arise. Courage and fortitude may be required but your reserves of inner strength and quiet determination will pay off later.
Key card: Seven of Cups
Love: Knight of Pentacles
Career: Four of Cups
Personal Relationships: Options and choices surround something that’s been ongoing for some time in the home or personal sector and you should have the opportunity to finally see it settled.
It may not come by the easiest route though, not only does the Seven of Cups find your thoughts dancing this way and that but Mercury Retrograde could play havoc with getting the right information in the first place. The Seven is your key card so sifting through the pros and cons, what’s perceived as real and what is imaginary, is essential this month. Your imagination could be on overdrive and flights of fancy could easily distract you, so it’s important to keep it real.
Stick to the facts when faced with decisions and don’t make or accept assumptions, yours or others, because if you can come to a conclusion in a practical and logical way you’ll be happy with the result.
Career & Business: The combination of the Seven and Four of Cups could leave you feeling a bit restless at work and, as you can see from the above, clear thinking will be needed across the board this month.
Whilst something could catch your imagination, or perhaps someone presents a grand scheme that sounds very tempting, it would be wise not to act on it straight away. Things may appear better than they turn out to be in reality and leave you feeling discontent with the outcome.
That’s not to say there may not be some wheat amongst the chaff, but the proverbial sorting part could prove illusionary or elude you. Whatever may fly in, use this month to do a lot of fact-gathering whilst it sits on the backburner. If at all possible try to wait until month end, or even November, before acting upon any big new ideas because the fog will start to lift later. There could be something useful you can work with later but big moves and changes are best avoided for the moment if you can help it.
Key card: Page of Wands
Love: Six of Swords
Career: XVII The Star
Personal Relationships: The Page of Wands brings good news and this can often be connected to work matters, due to the Wands association it tends to speed things up too. This is an interesting mix, given the backdrop of calm featured in the cards from the other two areas.
There’s a real opportunity to find peace and calm this month. Although there may still be a little navigating of stormy seas to negotiate, the Six of Swords is a good sign that you’ll soon reach the other side. The catalyst comes from the news brought in by the Page of Wands to set the tone and send you on your way.
Whilst the message of the Six of Swords shows you moving out of stormy waters into calmer times, there’s also the reminder of the difficulties that have passed, they may (metaphorically speaking) be left behind, yet the image portrays the swords still travel in the boat with the woman. There’s a valuable lesson to be found within that which has gone before, and those experiences can now be consolidated into wisdom as you travel toward the future. The worst of the storm is over and better times await you in home and personal relationships. If there have been difficulties with a child these may start to resolve now. Travel could feature this month.
Career & Business: Work matters look particularly promising with The Star occupying this area and the Page certainly brings news concerning career in this instance. Something has the potential to do well for you, it could be that you receive some recognition for your work but I feel that the greater gains will be felt a little further down the path.
If things have been tough career wise then you should start to see some improvements and it also provides the chance for you to shine your unique talents out into the world. These are good aspects if you’re job-hunting or hoping to launch something new soon.
Overall, with the Six of Swords and The Star featured in both areas, by the time October is through you should feel as though a cloud has been lifted from your life. You may recognise this month as an important turning point later.
Key card: Page of Pentacles
Love: Ten of Wands
Career: Ten of Pentacles
Overall: The Page of Pentacles may be something of a double-edged sword for you this month but the messages seem so far apart that one must surely impact the other to balance things out. Let’s take a look how this might translate for you.
The big news appears to come through the work sector and I feel in turn this will impact your home and personal life. (See, not so bad after all :) With two tens in the mix it also shows that certain matters in your life are about to complete a cycle.
If we turn our attention to the work area, the Page of Pentacles indicates good news concerning finance or material matters, for some of you this may also involve education in some way. It appears something you’ve been working on has the potential to improve your coffers, or an opportunity to do so will come along now.
The Ten of Pentacles brings stability and security to finances, possibly an increase or lump sum, but you may also have the opportunity to build something solid for the future. This all comes about due to the news brought in by the Page.
The Ten of Pentacles is also the card of home and family, so we can see how this impacts and cross references both areas of life, although it initiates from the work area. For those who work with property this will also be good news for you, although primarily it should somehow involve your home and family.
It would be contradictory if the Ten of Wands suggested heavy financial burdens in connection with the Page to the home, as we can see the message in the work area is so well aspected. There is the possibility that due to the excellent influences at work you suddenly find yourself buried and having to take care of the necessary, which leaves little time for social time this month.
Try to balance out your time as best you can and delegate wherever possible to share the burden, however, you have a great opportunity to make some lasting financial changes that will benefit you and your nearest and dearest this month. It may seem like a lot of work at the time but you can always put your feet up later!
Key card: Two of Swords
Love: Five of Pentacles
Career: VII The Chariot
Personal Relationships: These are not the easiest indications but they’re by no means the worst either, so keep a sense of perspective around personal affairs this month. The Two of Swords could make everything feel as though it’s at a standstill though with a gridlock forming somewhere and the Five of Pentacles suggests care with finance will be needed.
You could be in two minds over a material concern affecting the home department, perhaps something you were planning turns out more expensive than you’d originally anticipated, an unexpected bill arrives at an inopportune moment, or you’re offered less than you were expecting on a deal of some description. Any of which would throw a temporary spanner in the works until you get your head around how to tackle it.
Temporary is a key word here, the Five of Pentacles usually clears after a short time and with the Two of Swords the deadlock will at some point be broken. However, this isn’t the month to make big purchases and it would be better to conserve the pennies for the rainy day fund instead, at least for the moment. There can often be a hidden opportunity with the Five of Pentacles too, so just watch that you’re not too preoccupied to miss it, although often it’s something seen or found in retrospect.
Career & Business: The Two of Swords is no competition against The Chariot, though there may be delays to begin with, but you should come thundering out the gate as the month progresses.
The month may start slowly which could make you feel restless or perhaps undecided but keep chipping away behind the scenes. Regardless of whether progress is being made as quickly as you like, it will give you time to get your ducks in a row.
The Chariot requires focussed effort and strength of will to keep everything moving in the right direction, but it’s also a card of triumph so you should come bursting out the other side toward month end.
Key card: XV The Devil
Love: I The Magician
Career: Ace of Pentacles
Personal Relationships: It could be that you’re keeping your cards close to your chest over plans this month but you also need to guard against getting weighed down by things too, especially since the other two areas look good!
There could be a real push-pull going on in your personal affairs, where you seem to be questioning yourself or your abilities. Self-confidence could be a key component but whilst The Magician is encouraging you to step forward, The Devil is holding you back.
In matters of the heart you need to have a little faith in yourself, but if something doesn’t feel right by all means do some background work and don’t be afraid to ask some pertinent questions, as there could be good reason for that niggling instinct that’s preventing you from stepping forward.
Astrologically, The Magician is associated with Mercury, so this pairing is quite fitting to the retrograde period that dominates the month, communications or misunderstandings could easily run amok, so try to ensure everyone’s on the same page so far as expectations or arrangements go. Overall though, if you keep your wits about you and keep your mind focussed, The Magician follows The Devil, so you’ll be difficult to outwit this month and truth will out in the end.
Career & Business: The Ace of Pentacles may bring an important document with a financial connection, possibly a cheque, contract, or educational award. It could also be linked to company accounts, insurance policies, or property agreements too. However, you may feel that you’re kicking your heels or getting slightly stewed about it before it puts in an appearance – but it will arrive before month end.
Some of you may be moving on to greener pastures or even jumping ship to strike out on your own, which would explain the element of secrecy and why you’re keeping things to yourself until you’re ready to make your move. New beginnings feature and they hold good financial potential for the future… just try not to sign anything until after the 26th if you can.
Key card: Seven of Swords
Love: Knight of Swords
Career: Five of Cups
Personal Relationships: The Knight of Swords picks up the pace for you in October but there could be times when it feels slightly chaotic. If your personal life seems as though it’s been in the slow lane then you can expect that to change this month but it will need some careful navigation, indicated by the Seven of Swords.
There is an element of contradiction with these two, as the Seven of Swords suggests something of a softly-softly approach, which may seem almost impossible when the Knight of Swords comes whirling into play with all the dignity of a bull in a china shop - chalk and cheese come to mind.
However, ride with the changes this month, you may not be able to rein them into a scheduled timetable but it will certainly get things moving and keep you on your toes. This could be one of those moments in life when nothing happens then it all comes at once.
Career & Business: If your personal life needs careful handling then work endeavours may require the kid-gloves approach, and it comes along with a warning from the Five of Cups. Aside from the fact Mercury is in retrograde for the best part of this month, ensure you go over details with a fine toothcomb or you could be left feeling regretful.
It would be best to try and be as self-reliant as you can, not relying on others too much, as there is the potential for someone to let you down or leave you feeling disappointed. Everyone could be a little more touchy and jumpy this month anyway, so it would be easy for people and emotions to get out of kilter.
If something leaves you feeling slightly disappointed try to suspend judgement until later though, there’s often a temporary nature surrounding the fives and with this one in particular, there could be a blessing in disguise.
Key card: Two of Wands
Love: XVIII The Moon
Career: Eight of Swords
Personal Relationships: There’s a cautious approach to progress as there’s something you can’t quite put your finger on and it leaves you feeling as though you’re on shifting sands. It will clear in due course but for the moment there’s an air of uncertainty surrounding home and personal relationships.
It could feel slightly one step forward and two steps back, an interesting dance back and forth, but it could play havoc with your emotions. With two eclipses in the mix, if you’re susceptible to sensitivity around moon phases then everything about this card will ring true for you this month!
There’s an illusionary quality about The Moon, which could make you feel a little jumpy. Meanwhile, the Two of Wands is encouraging forward movement, so finding progress could feel like trying to knit fog. However, there’s a situation developing under the surface and given some time and space it will reveal itself in due course. In the meantime, sleep on decisions until you have all the facts to hand – not everything may be as it seems, so don’t jump to any conclusions.
Career & Business: Business partnerships, formal or informal, collaborations and working with others will be highlighted this month, although the Eight of Swords suggests you may meet with some restrictions, or at least feel as though you’re tied to a situation and hemmed in somehow.
Two heads are usually better than one, so some collective brainstorming wouldn’t go amiss as you get creative to find solutions. There’s always a way round everything and clear thinking to look beyond the obvious will pay dividends.
With The Moon in one area and the Eight of Swords in the other, this month may have its frustrations but the Two of Wands encourages forward thinking, so these two could help prevent impulsive action at the wrong time. Everything has its time and place, so if something isn’t moving perhaps there’s a good reason, something to chew on as you ponder release…
Key card: III The Empress
Love: XI Justice
Career: Two of Pentacles
Personal Relationships: Nurturing, in all its forms, comes under the influence of The Empress so you could be playing mother hen to people and projects this month.
Legal documents and contracts feature and they could possibly be linked to a mother figure, although it may suggest balanced thinking and time for a cool head in decision-making. As unexciting or unappealing as it may seem you could be dealing with necessary paperwork, some could be contractual in nature and since this falls in your home area, could also involve property contracts.
Romance may be a little detached but with The Empress and Justice it’s a balancing act of warmth and practicality. For some this could involve making a relationship ‘legit,’ and others could be weighing up the possibility of expanding the family circle. Love meets logic this October. A love relationship could feel hot and cold but don’t write it off immediately, there’s warm sensuality lurking under that cool exterior!
It’s a curious mix in your personal life this month but whatever you’re dealing with it appears to be with your eyes wide open.
Career & Business: Are you maintaining a balance or spinning plates? It may feel as if you’re doing a bit of both this month.
The success of a venture will be dependant upon how much care and attention you’re investing into it, whilst finances may need a careful touch to keep the loaves and fishes going round everyone. The Two of Pentacles can indicate balancing the books but it can also signify more than one thing, so you could be balancing more than one project or another job alongside. It’s a good time to expand, or consider adding to your list of available talents if you’ve been contemplating starting something else alongside the day job.
Overall, your month holds the message of balance, found in Justice and the Two of Pentacles, but with all the warmth and loving care that Pisceans hold dear.
